“Just being near her made me whole, without her a piece of me was missing. She filled a void in my life that I hadn’t known was there until the first time we’d met.”
“Lately, the line between reality and fantasy had become blurred. The last thing I wanted was to open my eyes and realize this was a dream.”
“All I wanted was to be numb, but planning a night with flowers and dinner and twinkling lights was so out of character for Erik that it thawed the chamber of my heart where I’d frozen all the hurt that I wasn’t ready to deal with.”
Goodreads Synopsis:
Can’t get enough of Talia and Erik? Want to know about their first meeting? Interested in what happens between the books? Dying for a peek at what’s coming in Created?
Captivated is a Talented Novella that includes four short stories, two from Talia’s point of view, and two from Erik’s point of view. The first is a detailed account of what happened the first time Talia and Erik met. The second is all about Erik’s trip to visit Talia after she was injured in Talented. The third takes place between Caged & Hunted, and gives you a glimpse at Erik’s romantic side. And last, but certainly not least, the fourth story starts off right where Hunted ends.
My Review:
5/5 stars
Captivated is a novella, four short stories focusing on Talia and Erik’s from the before Talented (Talented Saga #1) up until the events in Hunted (Talented Saga #3). These stories are written from both Talia and Erik’s POV (two each). Personally, I always enjoy when authors write in another character’s POV because you usually make assumptions about the character not realizing what their actual intent of something may be. The authors truly have an innate ability in writing from multiple perspectives. They are able to convey each personality in a distinct manner.
In Captivated, you are able to fully appreciate Talia and Erik’s relationship as a whole and not just based on what we seem in the middle of Talented. You see that Erik had always had a thing for Talia since before she pledged to be a Hunter in Talented.
I think the authors were very meticulous and careful about deciding when to write each of these little moments. This novella also lays the groundwork for other characters as well. For example with Donovan. In the storyline with Talia, you are led to believe a certain way about Donovan, but in Captivated you are presented with evidence that may lead you to feel differently about him. I believe it is important to read this book before Created (Talented Saga #4) because it does provide insight into certain characters motivations and cause you to change your opinions about them.
Happy Reading!!
