Amazon Synopsis:
You said you would never use your powers that way again.
As a Mental Manipulator, capable of both reading and altering the minds of others, Talia Lyons is the only one who can help when the sister of a close friend goes missing.
You said you would never live with a target on your back again.
It would be a lot easier if the Sons of After—the anti-Talented group taking over the world—didn’t have her as number one on their kill list.
You said you would never have blood on your hands again.
Talia will stop at nothing to find Melony alive, even if she must employ her personal brand of justice to make it happen.
You said you would never lose someone you love again.
The secrets Melony keeps are not hers alone, and Talia and Erik aren’t the only people looking for her.
You said you would always fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
Game on.
Talented: Variants is a brand-new series in the world of the Talented. Even readers who never lost themselves in The Talented Saga will find themselves gripped by this fast-paced dystopian adventure that will keep you turning the pages long after you vowed to go to bed.
My ARC review:
5/5 stars
This book follows Talia Lyons, five years after the events of Fated (Talented #8). As someone who, oops, didn’t finish the Talented series, it was okay to have read this book. There is only a TEENY bit of spoilers in Delta about the ending of the Talented series, but nothing that will make you regret reading this. I will say that Delta can be read as a sequel series to Talented or as a separate series, in a way. Sophie Davis did an incredible job at being able to carry over Talia Lyons voice from the Talented series to Delta. It’s been awhile since I have read a Sophie Davis book, BUT, the great thing about her/their writing is that you are immediately thrown into the characters world.
Talia Lyons and Erik Kelly are still one of my favorite YA ships. They are still the same from the Talented Series with just a few more responsibilities mixed in. I love how Talia is still fiercely independent, but they would do anything for one another. There is DEFINITELY never a dull moment in Delta. In a weird way, you feel as though are a part of their group as they try to solve the mystery of the disappearance of Henri’s sister. Henri of course is yet another character from the Talented series.
As they try to solve this mystery, they are constantly left with even more unanswered questions. Props to Sophie Davis for making me desire the second book in this series.
As for fans of Sophie Davis, and those who love dystopian novels, I, without a doubt, highly recommend this book, which releases January 25th 2021. (PS, don’t hesitate to check out all the other incredible books that Sophie Davis has written)
Happy Reading!
