Raised in a war-ravaged continent, temptation comes to Calla Caldwell in the form of a charming and mysterious stranger. Giving in to his intimate seduction, her world is forever changed by a single bite.
Calla quickly learns the handsome stranger is vampire prince, Trystan Vladu. His bite was an attempt to claim and save her from a plot of vengeance generations in the making. However, the claws of that ancient vendetta are scraping ever closer.
Thrust into a new nightmare by the Prince of the corrupt kingdom of Morbeth, Calla is captured, tortured, and starved in the dank confines of his dungeon. While in captivity, she takes part in a séance with a witch of light where she contacts a departed relative—a Princess of Incendia—who bequeaths a gift to Calla that will tip the scales of good and evil . . . if she can learn to harness it.
With a dark tapestry of secrets, lies, and murder unraveling around her, Calla must learn to embrace the power roiling through her veins, or be snuffed out by the strangling fist of a malevolent darkness.
Now without further adieu, here my interview with author Cameo Renae
Quotablebooks1: What was your inspiration behind Of The Blood?
Cameo Renae: I love fantasy novels and ever since I read Twilight, I’ve wanted to write a vampire story. I started Of the Blood maybe four years ago. The first three chapters sat in a WIP folder until I decided it was time to bring it out and dust it off. Those first three chapters were included in an anthology titled ONE– which were teasers of WIP’s from ten different authors. I had some readers begging me for more, but I couldn’t at that time because I was in the middle of writing two other YA series, which I finally completed! Yay! (Hidden Wings Series & After Light Saga)
Quotablebook1: What is your favorite part about writing/being an author?
Cameo Renae: I love the freedom of being able to stay home and work. I get to wear comfortable clothes and don’t have to worry about brushing my hair or putting on makeup. My wardrobe is 90% comfort clothes: sweats, baggy shirts, hoodies. Haha! But I love the freedom of creating new characters and new worlds for them to have adventures in. And of course, the blossoming romances.
Quotablebooks1: Was there anyone or anything that influenced you to become a writer?
Cameo Renae: My grandmother said that when I was three, I used to sit and copy words and letters from books for hours. So, I guess it was a sign. In middle school, I loved any assignment that involved creative writing. When other students turned in 2 pages of work, I would hand in ten or more. My teachers were very supportive and encouraged my writing back then. (It was a long time ago.) ha! But as I got older and started reading more YA Paranormal Romances (Amanda Hocking, Stephenie Meyer, among so many more!) I thought, maybe I should give it a try.
Quotablebooks1: What is your favorite genre to read and why?
Cameo Renae: I love reading all kinds of books, but my favorite would have to be fantasy/paranormal romance. I love to swoon and fall in love with beautiful immortal characters. Who doesn’t, right?
Quotablebooks1: Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Cameo Renae: I have always loved writing, but I never even thought about becoming a writer until my kids were in middle school. I started writing short stories in an online writing community, and after receiving a lot of great feedback, decided to attempt a full novel. In 2011, I published my first book titled In My Dreams. And I haven’t stopped since.
Thanks so much for the interview! And I hope you enjoy Of the Blood!
