My Review:

5/5 stars

I came across this book on the second day of BookCon 2019. I absolutely loved the idea behind the story. Authors Jamiyl and Tracy-Ann Samuels are the parents of a child on the autism spectrum, where they write him as the superhero of the story. I was immediately drawn to this book based on the incredible backstory of why the series was written. In talking with the parents, they told me they also wrote their daughter into the story because of how often siblings to those on the spectrum inadvertently get “lost in the shuffle”, having most of the focus on the child on the spectrum. This is such a great book for anyone to read- for anyone to be able to see themselves as the superhero and help others and themselves. I also liked that the parents thanked the educators that worked and helped their son progress. To my surprise, the parents brought both their children to BookCon, so I had the chance to meet them as well. I was so excited when the father asked the two of them if they wanted to be in the picture as well as sign the book.

Without a doubt, I would recommend this book to anyone. Its great for children to read and possibly gain insight that even if someone they meet is on the spectrum, they can still feel the same way as everyone else. I think that this is a really important to get across.
