Hey Readers!!!
Here is my BookCon Day #2 Recap
Here was my schedule for Sunday:

Ticketed Author Signings:
I was able to get tickets Sunday for Sasha Alsberg, who co-authored The Androma Series, with Lindsay Cummings (sadly, she couldn’t make it to BookCon this year). I was also able to get a ticket for Jennifer L. Armentrout, who just released her book Storm and Fury (which is in stores now).
Sunday day #2:
I decided to get to BookCon around 10:00 because I was so exhausted from waking up so early the day before! There was an author, Rob Hart, I wanted to see the day before, but because there was so much confusion about where and when he was signing, I never got the chance to. It was so bad that I had even tweeted him about the info and he was kind enough to help me out. PS: I do want to make sure that I give a shout out to one of the girls working at BookCon/Penguin Random House that helped me out too (sadly, I never got her name). I ended up getting to the Penguin Random House booth just in time, so I had the chance to meet Rob Hart and get a copy of his book The Warehouse, which releases this fall. I had mentioned to him that I was the one that was bugging him about where his signing was going to be, to which he laughed but said he was glad I was able to figure it all out.

Ticketed Authors:
After meeting Rob Hart, I headed toward the Sasha Alsberg signing. I was happy to have gotten a ticket for her signing, but I forgot that I had met her and Lindsay at their signing about a month ago in CT at R.J. Julia Booksellers. Even though I already had a copy of both their books (Zenith and Nexus), I decided to get a copy of Zenith to put into a BookCon2019 Giveaway (yes, there will be a giveaway). As usual, Sasha was friendly as ever and cracked up that I made a little “we miss you Lindsay” sign (this was in reference to what Ana from Analoves.com, JD Netto and I did for author Megan Duke at BookCon 2015 because she couldn’t go- click here to see the picture).

Due to waiting in the extremely long line the day before waiting for the Evangeline Lilly signing, I went right to the Jennifer L. Armentrout signing. As usual, Jennifer was extremely nice. I ended up pulling up the picture on my phone from the Chapter by Chapter event from 2014 where I first met her. She couldn’t believe how long ago it was and thought it was fantastic that I showed her.

After meeting her, I went to a booth that I had seen the day before but never stopped to see. I was REALLY glad I did. The authors, Jamiyl Samuels and Tracy-Ann Samuels, introduced themselves as parents of a child with autism. As it turned out, they wrote a series of children’s books that was about their son with autism who turns into the superhero of the story. Based on my experience working with children with autism, I immediately wanted this book. I thought it was such an incredible idea for a story. The father told me that they also wrote their daughter into the story. I was elated when the parents asked if it was okay for their son and daughter, who inspired the books, to sign my copy. Of course I said yes without hesitation. The book I bought was called The Amazingly Awesome Amani Takes on Jitters & Fear. This is about a boy named Amani and how he takes on Jitters and Fear on his first day of school. Sidenote, I read this book to the kindergarten class that I worked with and they absolutely loved it. They said that they could relate to Amani in being scared on their first day of school but that its less scary when you meet others who feel the same way.

My last author signing was Danielle Paige, who wrote the Dorothy Must Die series. At this years BookCon, she was featuring her new graphic novel Mera:Tidebreaker. This was the second year I met her. The first time was at last year’s BookCon. (My reading buddy Teddy decided to crash me taking a picture of the book, so I let him stay in the picture.

Sunday ended up being the only day that I ran into a few people that I met from previous BookCons. I was messaging the bloggers from The Book Bratz, who said on twitter that they were giving away an advanced copy of The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring. All that had to be done was find them and say the word ‘pickles’ (yes, that was one of the girls’ requests).

I also was able to meet J.D. Netto who was actually attending BookCon as ‘media’ rather than an author.

Other Books:
These books were actually written by highschoolers for their creative writing class. The money from the books goes directly to the school. As a teacher, I knew I wanted to support the schools. I also bought an extra copy of School Appropriate to be included in the BookCon giveaway.
